Wine in South Limburg
You don’t just discover South Limburg with your eyes—you discover it with your taste buds, too. Nestled among the rolling hills are an increasing number of vineyards where Limburg wine is crafted with great care. The limestone-rich soil, the slopes, and the relatively mild climate make our region ideally suited for viticulture.
And the best part? From Camping ’t Geuldal, several vineyards and wine trails are surprisingly close by. Head out, stroll among the vines, meet the winemaker, and then—most importantly—taste for yourself why Limburg wine is becoming increasingly well-known.
Wine Tasting at the Vineyard
Would you like to do more than just stroll among the vines—would you also like to get to know the wine and the people behind it? There are several wineries in the area that are well worth a visit. Always check in advance to see if guided tours or tastings are available.
Raar Saint Remi Winery (Meerssen)
It doesn’t get much closer than this. In the hamlet of Raar, right near our campground, you’ll find Raar Saint Remi Winery. They regularly host open tastings and tours where you can learn more about the vineyard and, of course, sample the wines.
An added bonus: we also serve Raar Saint Remi wine at our campground brasserie . So after your visit to the vineyard, you can simply stay with us a little longer and enjoy a glass of local wine.
St. Martinus Winery (Vijlen)
St. Martinus Winery is located in Vijlen, South Limburg. Here, you can get an up-close look at how Limburg wine is made and sample a variety of wines. It’s a great destination to combine with a day of hiking or touring through the Heuvelland region.
Domein Holset (Lemiers)
At Holset Estate, the focus is on sparkling wine made from Limburg grapes. Nestled in the heart of the South Limburg countryside, you can sample their wines and learn the story behind the estate. It’s a delightful stop on a day trip to Vijlen, Vaals, and the southernmost part of Limburg.

Walking Among the Vines
Wine tasting is fun, but discovering the place where the grapes grow might be even more enjoyable. Several Routes des Vins have been mapped out in South Limburg. You’ll walk through the rolling hills from vineyard to vineyard, and along the way, informational signs will tell you more about the grapes, the soil, and the winemakers.
Meerssen Vineyard Walk | approx. 8 km
